Speech of the Month November 2019!

And it's here again, the Speech of the Month! This time we at De Nieuws B.V. on NPO Radio 1 chose the brilliant speech that Sacha Baron Cohen (better known as Ali G and Borat) gave at the ADL Leadership Award.

How does he do it?

. He portrays himself as modest and likeable: 'Today my least favorite type: myself.'

He gains authority by indicating that he has long been involved in fighting racism and putting away minorities.

3. He puts forth a clear argument:

- the Problem: Our democracy is at risk because fake facts and hate are being spread over the Internet.

- the Cause: Big tech companies provide a platform because they care more about their profits than democracy.

- the Solution: They must take responsibility so that our free world can continue to exist.

And last but not least, he makes this heavy subject lighter through humor!
